Traditional Building Management Systems (BMS) focus on basic monitoring and control of building services and equipment and are often limited by their complexity, inflexibility, lack of remote access and analytics capabilities. Focus on optimal energy consumption, improved efficiency and energy savings has not been part of the core design of established BMS solutions. These are mainly due to limited tools & technology for efficient plant operations and at many cases energy efficiency is not center to designing the BMS systems.
IoT based Building and Energy Management Systems (BEMS) are technology-based systems that uses internet-connected devices and sensors to monitor and control a building's energy consumption as well as mechanical and electrical equipment and systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, safety and security. By gathering real-time data and analyzing it, these systems can optimize performance leading to improved energy efficiency, significant cost savings, reduced carbon footprint and better comfort and safety for building occupants.

Thomas is a Mechanical Engineer with a Master's in Energy Engineering & Management and over 5 years of industry experience in designing and optimizing HVAC systems, Plumbing Systems and Building Management Systems for healthcare and commercial facilities.
