IoT Solution
Nergy Live is a state-of-the-art IoT based automation solution that is highly effective for centralized
hot water plants.
Our solution utilizes the latest technology in sensors and internet connected devices to monitor and
control various aspects of the plant, such as water temperature, flow rate, and energy consumption.
By collecting and analyzing data in real-time, our solution allows for a more efficient and effective
operation of the plant.
Our solution also offers actionable insights and alerts, which allow you to stay informed of any
potential issues or opportunities for improvement in your hot water plant.
The alerts are
customizable, so you can focus on the most important aspects of the plant that you want to monitor.
Additionally, our solution offers remote access and control of the plant through a user-friendly web-
based interface or mobile app.
This allows plant operators to make adjustments and troubleshoot
issues from anywhere, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
With our IoT based automation solution, you can rest assured that your hot water plant is running at
peak efficiency at all times.
The client is a multispecialty Hospital across India and the Middle East with over 7 Hospitals managing over 1,500 beds. Nergy was installed at the flagship Hospital in South India state of Kerala, India.
The objective of the project was to optimally design and implement an iOT based Hot Water Management system to bring efficiency in power utilization without compromising the consumption.
Multispecialty Hospital at Trivandrum had a centralized solar heat pump hybrid hot water system
supplying hot water to their IP rooms. The system consisted of 4 heat pumps operating in a 3 working
+ 1 standby arrangement, 50 solar flat plate collectors, and 4 hot water tanks. The hospital wanted to
expand this system to meet the hot water demands in the kitchen and clinical areas.
Initially, the plan was to add 2 more heat pumps, but due to limited space in the plant room, Nergy
team was tasked with analyzing the existing system to see if it could be optimized to meet the entire
demand.
The analysis found that the peak hot water demand period in the IP rooms did not coincide with the
kitchen and clinical areas, so the existing system could meet the entire demand if automated to divert
heating to the areas with hot water demand. By splitting the storage and automating the system, the
energy team was able to avoid adding two more heat pumps and maintain the installed heating
capacity, resulting in a 40% reduction in working heat pump capacity.
The Nergy team implemented several automation measures that improved the plant
performance and reduce energy consumption. By using motorized valves, heating is
directed only to tanks were there is demand for hot water, reducing energy consumption by
avoiding unnecessary heating. The recirculation pumps were automated to operate based on
temperature feedback, reducing running hours and minimizing heat loss, resulting in energy savings.
Additionally, the circulation pumps for the solar system, previously operated manually, were also
automated to operate based on temperature feedback, avoiding heat loss from tanks during the night hours
or rainy weather conditions, leading to further energy savings.
Nergy solution assisted in identifying problems and inefficiencies in the system by establishing key performance indicators, such as the plant's coefficient of performance, to help the facility team monitor and identify areas of inefficiency. It also provided insights on hot water usage, plant performance, energy costs and heat losses to keep the facility team well informed. Additionally, end users were given the option to set up customizable alerts for any monitored parameters, ensuring that the facility team was immediately notified of any faults or equipment failures, leading to reduced downtime and increased occupant satisfaction.
The ‘Nergy Live’ Energy management solution has been a game-changer for our hospital at KIMS Trivandrum. The implementation was seamless, and the team was extremely helpful throughout the process.
KIMSHEALTH is a hospital network offering end-to-end healthcare is the biggest private healthcare organization in Kerala. The group started as a Public Limited Company in 2002 with its flagship quaternary-care hospital at Trivandrum., which is at the moment an 850-bed hospital. KIMSHEALTH is accredited by the national Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) and the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI) in 2006, thus making it the first Hospital in India with both National & International accreditations.
We have seen a significant reduction in our hot water energy usage and costs since implementing the system. The real-time monitoring and reporting features have also been invaluable in identifying areas for further energy savings.
We are very pleased with the solution and would highly recommend it to others.
